Nymphaea is the name of the plant genus that encompasses all the species of waterlilies. In the history of art there are countless varieties of takes on the subject of waterlilies, and this is my small contribution. I painted this from a photo of a pond in a tropical botanical garden I visited in Barbados. I tried to capture the vivid richness of greens and the shiny, wet texture of the leaves.
This is an oil painting on gallery depth panel. Framed with a simple, black wood frame.
